BMC Supply Company Donating Trusses, Windows, and Doors Towards our St. Jude Dream Home

When speaking with Jackie Allmond of BMC Supply Company on their participation with Village Park Homes’ St. Jude Dream Home, he stated that the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is a wonderful thing and he has hopes the home will be given away to somebody who truly needs the home. BMC is donating the trusses, windows, and doors for our Dream Home and we are grateful for BMC’s time and materials. This is the third St. Jude Dream Home Allmond has assisted with and we hope that his love for the organization extends over into everybody who has been a part of our mission this year!

BMC employee Jackie Allmond studied electronics at Savannah Technical College. Laughingly Allmond admits, “I remember the first hand held calculator in school…but they didn’t let us use them. We had to use the slide rule.” After a few jobs in working with electronics, Allmond found himself working in homebuilding and supplying. In asking Allmond about his choice to pursue homebuilding as a career, he said, “most people don’t choose this industry, most of the time it chooses you. I could not have followed a better career path for myself.” Working for VNS, Almond began driving trucks, was later elected as a warehouse manager, and then moved into sales where he remained for a while.

Allmond worked for VNS Corporation for twenty-two years, a company selling turpentine, rosin, railroad ties, and lumber. About three years ago, Building Materials and Construction Services, BMC, bought out VNS and Allmond has since remained a respectable employee with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Allmond lived in Savannah after receiving his degree, but later found himself in Statesboro, Georgia. While he loves the city of Savannah he finds that the slower farm town community of Statesboro is more appealing to him and the people spend more time visiting and talking. As a Lowcountry businessman, Almond comments that he loves how everywhere he goes, he sees somebody who he has worked for or with. He understands that business is about people and he loves the relationships he has made here in the south!

Village Park Homes is extremely grateful to BMC’s donations of Ply Gem Windows and Doors. Having BMC as an industry partner has been a pleasure and if you would like to learn more about BMC visit http://www.buildwithbmc.com/bmc/ and to contact Jackie Allmond email Jackie.allmond@buildwithbmc.com
