The Arts Center of Hilton Head Island brings the Tony nominated musical production “The Color Purple” to their multipart venue hosting drama, comedy and musical & experimental theater. “The Color Purple” ran and continues to run from October 4-22. That being said, this week is your last chance to watch this talented cast and crew!
“The Color Purple” among other great things, has such an important message about black women and the racism and sexism that they face in our prejudiced world. This musical, full of tear-raising anthems, hilarious musical rants, and standing-ovation causing ballads, educates the audience about oppression while also providing them with an extremely enjoyable piece of theater.” says HuffPost (Lewis)
If you have a love for the arts and wish to maintain this love as well as share it with your loved ones, attend the Arts Center’s performance of “The Color Purple” this week. Experience this show with friends and family as it is comprised of a ‘joyous score of jazz, ragtime, gospel and blues’ (The Color Purple) and so much more. Going off of that, this musical is based off of the novel “The Color Purple” by author Alice Walker who won a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction; this story was later released as a film in 1985. Hilton Head Island brings you a performance you truly should not miss!
Show times are at 8pm from Tuesdays through Saturdays, and to find the Sunday show times check The Art Center’s calendar online. Tickets are $52 for adults and $39 for children. The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina is located at 14 Shelter Cove Lane on Hilton Head Island. Call 843-842-2787 for more information.
